This Kemptville basement laundry renovation transformed an unfinished utility space into a bright, highly functional room with custom cabinetry, warm wood counter-tops, and a striking geometric back-splash.

Thoughtful layout improvements—including a space-saving pocket door and integrated folding surfaces—elevated both efficiency and everyday comfort while creating a cohesive extension of the home. Explore the full transformation in the before and after photos to see how strategic design can completely re-imagine a hardworking space.

Project Photos

The following After images showcase how we were able to take a blank canvas and use creative solutions for a highly functional and much needed laundry area for this family of four.

Before Photos

This space was a blank canvas that allowed us to thoughtfully rework the layout to support the new design. While beam placement created a few structural constraints, the final solution balanced both function and aesthetics, resulting in a transformation the clients were very happy with.

design build story highlights

Each project has an unique story that makes it special. Here are some highlights behind the photos.

STARTING WITH AN UNFINISHED SPACE

The project began as a fully open utility area with exposed framing, mechanical runs, and no defined storage. This allowed us to rethink the layout from the ground up and design a more efficient laundry workspace.

WORKING AROUND STRUCTURAL BEAMS

Existing beam placement shaped how cabinetry and shelving could be introduced. Careful planning allowed us to maximize storage while maintaining comfortable headroom and visual balance.

ADDING CONTINUOUS FOLDING SURFACES

A full-length wood countertop over the washer and dryer created a practical folding zone while visually connecting the cabinetry across the room.

INTRODUCING A POCKET DOOR

By adding a pocket door, it helped to improve flow in this narrow space and prevented the door from interfering with the new cabinetry layout.

client review

I would highly recommend Cindy and Gilbert! They were a perfect combination in helping us by providing excellent interior design ideas and then completing the renovations in our home!

Cindy was with us through every step of the planning phase of our new laundry room. She provided in-person visits with lots of great design options. She offered her expert opinion but also encouraged us to make the decisions. Everything came together perfectly, from the flooring to the lighting, the backsplash, and so much more!

We could not have turned our laundry room into the beautiful and functional space it is without their help!
