Project Details

This full main floor renovation in Kemptville transformed a series of closed and disconnected rooms into a bright, open living space.

To begin, we completely gutted the core living area to the studs, removing the original 1976 kitchen, living room, and dining room layout before rebuilding the space from the ground up. We also removed the non-load-bearing walls separating the kitchen from the adjoining rooms, which immediately improved circulation and sightlines throughout the home. In addition, the centrally located wood stove was removed and the roof opening above it was closed.

In the dining area, the existing window was replaced with a 6′ patio door to provide direct access to the newly constructed back deck built by Total Home.

Finally, the original three-season sun-porch was removed and rebuilt as a fully integrated sunroom addition. Because this area previously shared an exterior wall with the living room, the renovation required removing that structural boundary and installing a new 22′ beam to open the space completely.

As a result, the new sun-room now functions as a seamless extension of the main living area while significantly expanding the home’s usable footprint.
